Key points from our statutes
Purpose & goals
The association's goal is to promote narrative design, game writing and interactive storytelling in society and industry across the German-speaking world (DACH) — to create more visibility for these disciplines. This includes:
- connecting people who tell stories through interaction or work as writers in interactive media
- the professional development of members
- supporting newcomers in narrative design and game writing
- raising the visibility of the work of narrative designers and game writers in society and the industry
- a better understanding of this work within the games industry and society
- advancing the development and research of interactive storytelling
Who can become a member?
Any adult, as well as legal entities, who support our goals and are committed to the free democratic basic order. There are several types of membership:
- Ordinary – with proof of narrative work, full voting rights
- Associate – with credible interest, no voting rights
- Supporting – full voting rights
- Institutional – for organizations and companies, full voting rights
- Honorary – awarded by the board
Membership is requested via an application; the board decides on admission.
Fees
The annual membership fee depends on the type of membership:
| Membership type | Fee per year |
|---|---|
| Ordinary | €90 (reduced €45) |
| Associate | €60 (reduced €25) |
| Supporting | from €100 |
| Institutional | €100–300 (by company size) |
| Honorary | free of charge |
The reduced fee applies to ordinary and associate members, e.g. for those in education/studies, unemployment, parental leave or with a low pension income (proof required). As of June 2026 · set in the fee schedule (Beitragsordnung); changes are decided by the general assembly.
Rights & obligations
Every voting member has one vote at the general assembly and may transfer it to another member by written proxy (at most one additional vote). The obligation is to pay the annual membership fee.
Bodies
The association has two bodies: the general assembly (the highest body — elects the board and decides fundamental matters) and the board (three to five volunteer members with a chair and deputy, board within the meaning of § 26 German Civil Code). In addition there is a treasurer (manages the finances, without a vote on the board) and two auditors.
Adopted founding version — registration as an e. V. is still pending.
